Op haar 17° werd Rosalia ongehuwde moeder. Vier jaar later huwde ze, maar intussen was het dochtertje overleden.
Rosalia en Edmond kregen 2 kinderen. In trok 1909 trok het gezin naar het Noord-Franse Armentières. Vlak vóór de oorlog 1914-'18 zijn ze teruggekeerd naar Torhout, waar Rosalia in 1915 op een dramatische manier weduwe werd. De overlijdensakte van Edmond vermeldt: "om negen en half ure 's morgens in de sectie D langs den ijzerenweg nabij de statie doodgevonden". Er wordt verteld dat hij kolen opraapte die tussen de rails lagen. Rosalia hertrouwde na de oorlog met de broer van Edmond. When she was 17, Rosalia became an unmarried mother. Four years later she married Edmond Lagrand, but in the meantime the little daughter had died.
Rosalia and Edmond had two children. In 1909 the family moved to Armentières, North-France. Just before World War II they returned to Torhout, where Rosalia became a widow in a very dramatic way. Edmond's death certificate states, "found dead at 9:30 a.m. in section D along the railroad way near the station". The story is told that he had been picking up coal that had fallen onto the train tracks from passing trains. After the war, Rosalia remarried to Edmond's brother Oscar-Alphonse Lagrand.
